Monsoons are always blamed for making havoc in Mumbai but they are also the time which not only showers rain but also showers natural beauty in and around the city. As it is rightly said that monsoons are always welcome in India so it is in Mumbai and places around Mumbai. The city is situated in Western Ghats which is the adobe of natural beauty in India and this beauty is in full swing during monsoons. There are many such places near Mumbai which could be visited during monsoons but if you really want to enjoy nature, want to have peace in the company of nature, want isolation and want a break from the hectic city life then for you Khopoli is one such place to visit. It is a one day picnic spot near Mumbai.

Khopoli is a small industrial town of Raigard District which is situated at Sahyadri Mountains. But what it is famous for is the ZENITH WATERFALL which is situated in Khopoli. Khopili is around 95 Kms from Mumbai.and you can reach there either by road or rail. But among both the options the best one is to go by train as it is the safe, economical and fast way to reach there. You can go to Khopoli via taking a local from Mumbai CST. The ticket will cost you around 22 Rs for 2nd class and 176 Rs for first class for one way and the train takes 2 hrs 15 min (if you catch a fast local). So the best is to start in the morning and take a fast local to Khopoli.

Zenith Waterfall is around 2.5 kms from the Khopoli Railway Station. You can either take an auto rickshaw or can trek down to that place. The rickshaw with take around  50 Rs. but it will drop you to a certain point because after that there is no road. From that drop point you have to walk to the water fall. The trek to the fall is not a difficult one but at places it is a bit slippery because the is no definite path to the fall but you literally have to make your way through the little stream which originates from the fall. It will take you around 15 to 20 minutes to walk down to the fall from the drop point. And when you reach the fall, then u can enjoy the fullest. There you can have a nice shower under the fall and can swim in the small pond under it.

After this you can relax a bit and can return to station or via road to Mumbai. Moreover for lunch you can always go to a few good restaurants near Khopoli station area where you can get both veg and non-veg meals. Bars are also there in that area where u can enjoy your drinks.

A few things that you should keep in mind for this trip. You should carry some snacks and water with you as there are no shops near waterfall. It is better to wear shorts or three-fourths rather than jeans and pants and if possible avoid shoes. Carry an umbrella and a pair of cloths with you. The waterfall is situated at an isolated location therefore it is advisable that you should return back from that place in day light only. Do not get carried away so as to keep safety and security at second place because at such a place your safety is your responsibility. Rather than going as couples it is recommended that you should go in groups.

  1. Hilarious!!! Gawd! Extraordinary choice of words and an equally enthralling grammar! Dude, Hats Off! It is adventure enough to go through the blog itself, why take pains to visit Khopoli. We sure got a 'Gateway' into your lingual capabilities (Feel free to read it as 'Getaway'). You are the Dude. Don't ever take MBA as a career option. You might end up belittling the pass outs. Shakespeare is terrified! He says that the English language has just been murdered and there is no place for him to go and work now. RIP English!!!
